WINTER PARK, Fla. — (September 9, 2019) —IndirectPro, a provider of services for the indirect procurement industry and wholly owned subsidiary of COPC Inc., announces the immediate availability of Release 1.1 of the COPC Indirect Procurement Core Standard.

Release 1.1 COPC Indirect Procurement Core Standard is the latest evolution of the COPC Indirect Procurement Standard, which was released in 2017. The COPC Indirect Procurement Standard is a performance management system developed specifically for indirect procurement organizations. It provides guidelines and outcome-based metrics for strategically managing indirect spend with the intent of helping brands benchmark and improve indirect procurement operations.

While the full Standard contains 28 items in total, the Core Standard emphasizes 19 items, cutting across all areas of the procurement organization, including Leadership, Key Business Processes and Performance. The intent of the Core Standard is to help companies lay a strong foundation for indirect procurement best practices, paving the way for companies that seek the adoption of the full Standard, and eventual certification to the COPC Indirect Procurement Standard.

The COPC Indirect Procurement Standard is specifically designed to:

  • Lower spending while encouraging better, more consistent supplier performance
  • Drive higher levels of satisfaction among both internal customers and suppliers
  • Ensure a high-performing procurement operation with appropriate staffing levels and optimal organizational costs
  • Help the procurement organization become a trusted strategic advisor to its internal customers

Both the full and core versions of the COPC Indirect Procurement Standard are managed by the COPC Indirect Procurement (IP) Steering Committee. The IP Steering Committee consists of academicians and indirect procurement leaders from global companies such as Cisco, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Intuit, Magna International, Microsoft, Stryker, and others.

“The COPC Indirect Procurement Standard not only meets academic rigor, but also satisfies real-life business needs for today’s procurement professionals,” said Dr. Sime Curkovic, Valluzzo & Lee Honors Faculty Fellow and Professor of Supply Chain Management at Western Michigan University. “The newly created Core Standard (2019) is an essential first step in ensuring companies can implement appropriate best practices. This helps companies create efficient and high-performing procurement operations that provide indirect goods and services at an optimal value — balancing cost, quality and risk.” In addition to his academic credentials, Dr. Curkovic is also a member of the IP Steering Committee and is a leading advisor on indirect procurement best practices.
